Quick Talk Answers

1.  What do you think of trains?

I love trains – all kinds of trains, from steam trains to bullet trains. I also like subway trains. I even like trams, but they're not really trains. I particularly like Japan's bullet trains. They are so cool looking and are always punctual. They always arrive and leave exactly on time.

2.  What's the best way to get around Japan?

I think the best way to get around Japan is by car. Japan's road network is great and the roads are in good condition. I don't really like road tolls though. The cost to use the highways is pretty high. In England, we don't have toll roads. I think it's better to drive than to fly.

3.  Is a bicycle or motorbike better?

Motorbike is much better. You can go anywhere by motorbike really quickly. Bicycles are fun, but you can't really ride from city to city on a bicycle. I guess if you go to places that are nearby, then bicycles are better. Bicycles are also better for the environment, and… cycling will make you fit.

4.  What do you think of the bullet train?

I think the bullet train is amazing. I always get excited when I ride it. It's a special experience for me because it's a Japanese experience. As a kid, I remember seeing photos of bullet trains speeding past Mount Fuji. That's such an iconic image of Japan. I still love seeing that.

5.  How good is the transport system in Tottori?

I think Tottori's transport system needs to be improved. We really need a better bus network. It would be great if we had a subway. Sometimes I get a lift to school from friends because there are no buses. I don't even think we can get a bus to the port. I could be wrong about that.

6.  How good are Japan's roads?

Japan's roads are excellent, especially the national highways. They are toll roads and they have an automatic payment system called ECT, so we don't have to wait at toll gates. There are even highways to the major airports in Japan – both domestic and international airports.
