Quick Talk Answers 1. What can hot springs do for your health? Apparently, hot springs are really beneficial. Sitting in a hot bath is great for our health. It's good for our blood pressure; it helps our circulation; and it keeps our skin looking young. I heard you get fewer wrinkles if you sit in a hot bath. I think the bubbles in the water are also good, but I don't know why. 2. What hot springs are there in your hometown? My hometown is famous for hot springs. I'm from Kinosaki in Hyogo prefecture. There are six famous onsen there. You can buy a ticket to visit all six in one day. Many people from Japan and from overseas come to Kinosaki to soak in our hot springs. If you ever get the chance, please visit Kinosaki and sit in six baths. 3. Is it better to go to an onsen with family or with friends? I prefer going to hot springs with my friends because I have more fun. My Mum and Dad are really into hot springs. It's kind of their hobby. When I go with them, they make me stick to the onsen's rules. I don't like that. Also, my parents like old-style, traditional hot springs, but I like modern ones. 4. What's the best memory you have of going to a hot spring? My best memory of going to a hot spring is when I went to Toyama in the winter. It was an outside hot spring and it was snowing. I remember soaking in the bath with snow falling on my head. That was beautiful. I also remember the water being full of bubbles. I'd love to go back there one day. 5. What's the best thing to do after bathing at a hot spring? I think the best thing to do after bathing at a hot spring is to eat. I'm really into seafood, especially shellfish and crab, so I like going to sushi restaurants. I always feel hungry after soaking in the bath, so going to a restaurant is a must for me. After that, I go straight to bed. 6. What's the best view from an outdoor onsen- mountains, the beach or the city? The view of the mountains is best from a hot spring. It's great looking at nature from the bath. There's a great onsen in the mountains in a town called Misasa in Tottori. The water there is radioactive, so it's good for our circulation and blood pressure, I think. The view is also great.
